A well stocked book corner gives every child the opportunity and encouragement to become familiar with books, able to handle them, to be aware of their uses, both for reference and as a source of stories and pictures.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Within a caring environment, children are individually supported in developing confidence and self-respect and are able to establish effective relationships with other children and adults.

Children are encouraged to be sensitive to the needs and feelings of others. They take turns and share fairly, through activities, conversation and practical example they learn acceptable ways to express their own feelings and develop an understanding of what is right and what is wrong and why.

They are encouraged to show independence in selecting an activity or resources and in personal development such as dressing and caring for own hygiene.
